I was born in Los Angeles where I spent most of my childhood. At the age of 16, difficult family circumstances forced my twin brother and me to start living on our own. I then moved to Baltimore, where I earned a biomedical engineering degree from Johns Hopkins. Additionally, I was awarded a patent for the invention of a surgical medical device that assists orthopedic screw removal.
I spent the majority of my adult life in Brooklyn, New York. As a consultant with Accenture, I helped businesses operate more efficiently by improving processes and implementing technology solutions. I have spent the majority of my career in the life sciences sector - delivering clinical trial management systems, electronic laboratory notebooks, and compound management systems for large pharma and biotech. Outside of life sciences, my most interesting project was helping the US Postal Service better track trailers of mail. I traveled to major distribution centers in 22 different states to deploy a transportation system and train thousands of warehouse operators on new procedures and software.
Separately, I founded a design firm to help local businesses with branding. I learned Photoshop and coding to create marketing materials and websites for clients. Evenings and weekends were spent on cold calls, check-ins with customers, and putting out fires. I helped a new business owner open a gym and created an online booking and scheduling platform for his trainers. We completed over 70 branding projects for 35 clients in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and New York. It was incredibly rewarding to start my own firm, but I realized I needed more training to grow the business.
